Reloading ammunition
Reloading gives you full control over your ammunition. You tailor your load to your rifle, your calibre and your application. At Hop.nl you will find reloading presses, dies, measuring tools, case cleaning equipment, scales, powder dispensers and annealing systems from brands like Redding, K&M Precision, Frankford Arsenal, AMP and SuperTrickler. Not sure about your setup or your reloading process? We reload ourselves and are happy to help.
Why reload
Factory ammunition is fine to start with. But at some point you hit the ceiling. Your groups are not getting any smaller, your ES and SD stay too high, or you shoot a calibre that simply has no decent factory load available. At that point reloading stops being a hobby. It becomes a necessity.
When you reload you control everything: which projectile, how much powder, seating depth, neck tension. Every variable is yours and you can repeat exactly what works. It also saves real money over time, especially if you shoot a lot. Brass lasts many firings when you treat it well and anneal regularly, and you no longer depend on what happens to be in stock at your dealer.
Reloading presses
The press is the heart of your setup. Everything starts here. In our reloading presses category you will find single stage and turret presses from Redding and Frankford Arsenal. Most precision rifle shooters work on a single stage. Makes sense, because you perform each step deliberately and feel exactly what is happening. Turret presses are useful if you want a bit more volume without giving up too much precision. Which one suits you depends on what you shoot and how many rounds you load per session.
Reloading dies
Your dies determine how your brass is formed and how your projectile is seated. Sounds straightforward, but the difference between a quality die and an average one shows up directly in your concentricity and ultimately in your groups. In our reloading dies category you will find full length sizing dies, neck sizing dies, bushing dies and bullet seating dies from Redding among others. Their Competition dies are popular with precision shooters for good reason.
Measuring tools
Reloading without measuring is guessing. Full stop. You need to know your case lengths, your CBTO, whether your headspace is correct, how thick your neck walls are. Without that information you cannot repeat what works and you cannot fix what does not. In our measuring tools category you will find callipers, comparators, headspace gauges and OAL measuring tools from K&M Precision and other brands.
Scales and powder dispensers
This is where it gets truly precise. The consistency of your powder charge is arguably the most important factor in your shot to shot spread, and a difference of 0.1 grain can show up at 600 metres in your group size. We carry the SuperTrickler, one of the fastest and most accurate systems out there for weighing charges. We also stock digital scales and dispensers from Frankford Arsenal.
Brass cleaning
Clean brass. Sounds like a detail, but it is the foundation of your entire process. Dirty cases wear your dies, make it harder to spot cracks and can cause problems during sizing. In our brass cleaning category you will find dry and wet tumblers from Frankford Arsenal. Wet tumbling with stainless steel pins gives by far the cleanest result, primer pockets included.
Case prep
Trimming, chamfering, uniforming primer pockets, deburring flash holes. Not every step is necessary for every application, but for precision rifle at longer distances it all adds up. It is the small things that together make the difference between a 0.5 MOA group and a 0.3. In our case prep category you will find tools from K&M Precision and Frankford Arsenal.
Expanding mandrels
Neck tension. One of those things you do not think about at first, but that has a huge effect on your consistency. Too tight and your pressure builds unpredictably. Too loose and your projectile does not stay put. With expanding mandrels you control that tension independent of your sizing die, and you can experiment until you find the sweet spot for your particular brass and projectile combination.
Annealing
Brass gets harder and more brittle in the neck and shoulder with every firing. That means your neck tension changes, load after load, and eventually your case splits. Annealing prevents that. In our annealing category you will find the AMP Annealer. It uses induction and has AZTEC programmes per calibre, so every case gets exactly the same treatment. No guesswork, no variation. We also carry the Burstfire system for those looking for an alternative.
Priming and depriming
A consistently seated primer means uniform ignition. Sounds like a small detail, but it matters. Many reloaders prefer to prime by hand because you can feel whether the primer is properly seated at the bottom of the pocket. In our priming and depriming category you will find hand priming tools and depriming dies.
Case lube and more
Without lubrication your brass gets stuck in your sizing die. That damages both your case and your die, and costs you time to sort out. So just use it. In our case lube category you will find lubricants that work well without leaving residue. We also carry ammo boxes for storage and transport, and reloading trays to keep your bench organised.
Just getting started?
It can seem like a lot. So much gear, so many steps. But it is manageable when you grow into it gradually, and you do not need to buy everything at once.
